As a daily driver #KDE #Kate (with its variations: KWrite, GhostWriter, …) will most likely continue to be my main #TextEditor of choice. (The #Marksman LSP makes it very close to something like #Zettlr and #ObsidianMD)
In the console though, I’m conflicted. #Vi is ubiquitous, so knowing its basics is basically a survival skill. That said, I **really** like how Helix’ command workflow (borrowed from #Kakoune) is visual selection ↦ action (Vi is action ↦ selection).

Just tried #Helix #TextEditor and I quite like it so far. It’s not as powerful as #Vim and different in places, but where it breaks away from Vim it’s to make it easier to use (similar as Fish vs Zsh).
The out-of-the-box experience is much nicer than Vim. Its biggest problem IMHO is that its pros are different from Vi(m) and Vi is everywhere.
In combination with the #Zettelkasten-like #Marksman LSP it’s great for editing #MarkDown notes.

Has anyone out there got #LSP support working on #BBEdit? I've got #marksman (Markdown) and #solargraph (Ruby) installed, BBEdit is giving me a green "ready to start server" indicator in the language config & its language server logs are showing me pretty normal-looking "server started" stuff.
Validated both Marksman and Solargraph using Emacs' LSP mode (and with eglot).
With BBEdit it's just ... nothin'. The little LSP indicator sits gray, doesn't respond to nonsense, etc.

I haven't done much of anything with #LSP #language servers.
I'm trying to use #marksman, a #markdown server. I'm on Silverblue, primarily operating out of a #distrobox container. I know language servers can be a little weird about containers, but if I have the binary in the path accessible to the container and execute it in the container, why wouldn't it work? (It runs perfectly fine if, say, I run #helix from a host terminal, but doesn't run in helix on a guest.) It's weird.

Taking the boy shooting tonight, he's now shooting off a sling. I'm trying to get ahead a few rounds before Christmas.

I guess everyone else is, so I'll do an #introduction as well.
I'm Andy, but most people, especially online, know me as Bob (due to a manager at Yahoo! in the late 90's playing a practical joke and it stuck).
I've actually been on here since 2019 but mostly kept lurking occasionally.
I have a wife and 13yo son. Like fiddling with #3dPrinting and #microcontrollers and #robotics. I'm also a #marksman shooting in county rifle teams for full-bore and small-bore.
I'm not officially in #infosec but have been working in networking and sysadmining since token ring networks were the latest hotness and the Internet consisted of telnet, ftp, gopher and email.
I currently work as an #cloud #infrastructure #architect for an #ecommerce startup and am notionally in charge of #security as no one else is interested.
I follow #infosec where I can and keep having ideas about stuff I'd like to research.
