Erwartungen übertroffen: Mars-Rover Perseverance beendet Sauerstoffproduktion
Insgesamt 16 Mal wurde das Experiment Moxie an Bord von Perseverance in Betrieb genommen. Dabei kam genug Sauerstoff für mehrere Stunden Atmung zustande.
Creating oxygen on #Mars will make it easier to create breathable air & rocket fuel (the latter will probably have to come from Methane, which #SpaceX uses).
Now if only we could solve that perchlorate issue then Mars would be safer than its present condition as a super fund site.

Our ability to detect minerals on Mars is limited to spacecraft, rovers, and Martian meteorites, but you'd expect more to turn up. According to a new paper, this is due to fewer ways minerals can form on Mars. Mars lacks plate tectonics, and there's no widescale evidence of life, both triggering the formation of new minerals.

Ingenuity notched the milestone on Sept. 3, during its 57th Red Planet flight.
The 4-pound (1.8 kilograms) Ingenuity flew for the 57th time on Sunday (Sept. 3), covering 713 feet (217 meters) of ground on a sortie that lasted 129 seconds.
Ingenuity landed with NASA's Perseverance rover inside the 28-mile-wide (45 kilometers) Jezero Crater in February 2021.
