Ground nesting bird season is officially over tomorrow, so back on with restoration work thereafter.

Walked the Circular route - on the hills around & to the west of .

I walked it clockwise last summer (and most of the partial walks we do on it are that way for some reason) so we went anticlockwise today. 22.5km/14miles. The views are maybe better clockwise but the hills felt a bit easier.

We stopped in for a drink at the pub towards the last stretch and were rewarded for our behaviour by a fantastic sunset to take us home 😍

Had a 9 mile wander up on Marsden Moor. Some lovely big rocks to have a clamber over at West Nab and I even managed not to get too lost today!

Walked along the Narrow Canal from then joined the Colne Valley Circular at for the walk back towards - a 9mile loop with a few good climbs. Lovely day for it - wet towards Cupwith but not as outright boggy as I'd feared. Also met a good selection of dogs.

There's a lot of lovely cycling in West Yorkshire... but occasionally I discover a gem on my own doorstep. Bank Gate in Marsden is only 200m long, but steep and mossy. "No Traffic": Cyclists: Welcome to Yorkshire.

Went along to a little acoustic folk open mic last night in Marsden. A lovely group with quite diverse song choices who all listen intently. We got called the youngsters, despite being in our forties. I played two regular ones of mine: Louis Collins and Jolene, but a new one called Furr by Blitzen Trapper which went down well.

I love that all around the country there are people getting together like this and singing for each other all the time.

@Silvergoatish oh my goodness! I came to the Colne Valley in 2020 and it's amazing. Slawit and Marsden are booming creative hubs, there's a genuinely cooperative spirit and there's a heart of care for each other (and the place they live).
