#MarshallCrenshaw – Field Day (1983)

Does anyone else view Marshall Crenshaw as the US version of #ElvisCostello, or is it just me?

If you told me this was an #REM album, I'd believe you. It's poppy and has that college rock sound that'll become popular years after the album is released. I'm into it!

#MarshallCrenshaw I just “discovered” #MarshallCrenshaw on July 2, 2023 via the pre-order re-release of Field Day in iTunes. I’ve known Someday, Someway since it came out, but nothing else. I’m shocked at how blown away by his music I am. What makes this more profound is that I was just about to graduate high school when his debut came out! Standouts so far are Never Coming Down, Starless Summer Night, Vague Memory, Theme from Flaregun, You’re My Favorite Waste of Time. Fantastic stuff!!

"Walk Away Renée" is a song written by #MichaelBrown, Bob Calilli, and Tony Sansone for the band #theLeftBanke, released as a single in July 1966. #SteveMartinCaro is featured on lead vocals. It spent 13 weeks on the US charts, with a top spot of No. 5. The song has been widely considered a quintessence of the #baroquePop genre. As musician #MarshallCrenshaw explained.

#MarshallCrenshaw posted on Facebook that somebody is impersonating him asking for money. Hey, I love his music, but why the hell would somebody go through the effort of impersonating him?! It's like making counterfeit pennies and nickels.
