Sad to see PNG demoted from their ODI status. Their form over the past couple of years made this inevitable although they do have a 50% win-loss record in 2023. Reduction in ICC funding will hurt.
I have long been an advocate for Papua New Guinea fielding the seventh team in Australia's #MarshCup and perhaps now is the time.

Here's a brief history of the Australian male one-day competition that I wrote in November 2017 before the 49th final: https://cricket.rickeyre.com/2017/10/21/australias-one-day-competition-49-not-out/ #cricket #MarshCup
Australia's mens domestic one-day competition has been held for 54 years now. WA won the title on Wednesday night for the 16th time, defeating South Australia by 181 runs.

I've seen some gorgeous photos of the sunset at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui during the #NZvEng Test which put my pictorial efforts from North Sydney on Thursday night to shame but I'll give you this one. Less sun more #cricket. #MarshCup #NSWvTas https://www.instagram.com/p/Cot2UmLhHkp/

I had intended to go to North Sydney for the #NSWvQld #MarshCup yesterday but the weather forecast of thunderstorms and frequent showers put me off. As it happened the meteorologists were spot on. Max Bryant's march to a century was halted by the storms at 88 not out. NSW was unable to keep up with ever changing DLS targets. Queensland winners in the end by 31 runs.
