Misheard on #MaryAnneHobbs on #6Music (but took me a minute to realise because it fit so beautifully with the general aesthetic of the show).....

"Coming up we've got some pandemic bangers and a special guest from radio 3 who's here to talk about Elizabeth the First's favourite women burglars"

I always have music on in the background as it helps me concentrate, lifts my mood and eases some of the thoughts that I am SO TERRIBLY ALONE (I've WFH since 2019 and sometimes lose my mind a bit).

I listen to #6Music because I like the variety - I particularly like the music on #MaryAnneHobbs. Occasionally they'll play something that seeps into my brain and makes me feel actually insane before I realise what's going on.....

So #MaryAnneHobbs played a #SigurRos session this lunchtime (you can catch up on sounds in the UK).

Just stunning.

She is, IMO, the best DJ on the radio, and plays music nobody else would play in the daytime.

Every time I hear Bending Hectic by Smile (on #MaryAnneHobbs 6 music show, of course) I am once again impressed by the stunning art of it. The total change over the one track. The genius to conceive of such a thing.

It really is an incredible piece of music.

So - the reason I love #MaryAnneHobbs and I love to listen to her show is that she played Static Dress: Courtney, Just Relax.

On national, daytime radio.
