Today in Labor History April 27, 1759: Mary Wollstonecraft, was born. She was an English philosopher, historian, and early feminist who advocated for women’s rights. In her A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), she argued that women are not naturally inferior to men, but only appeared to be because they lacked education. She married the philosopher William Godwin, one of the first modern proponents of anarchism. She was also the mother of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, who wrote Frankenstein.

Today in Labor History March 29, 1797: William Godwin married Mary Wollstonecraft. Godwin was an English journalist, philosopher and novelist. And one of the first modern proponents of anarchism. His most famous books are “An Enquiry Concerning Political Justice” and an attack “Things as They Are; or, The Adventures of Caleb Williams,” a mystery novel that attacks aristocratic privilege. Wollstonecraft was a British writer, philosopher, and advocate of women's rights, and is regarded by many as one of the founding feminist philosophers. Her most famous book was “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” (1792). She died 11 days after giving birth to her second daughter, Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein.

#WilliamGodwin born on 3 March 1756. Not only the first proponent of modern day #Anarchism, but also the partner of #FeministIcon #MaryWollstonecraft and Father of #Frankenstein author #MaryShelley. His novel, #CabelWilliams, is one of the finest psychological thrillers ever written (especially considering when it was written) and an absolute searing attack on the nature of power and government. I know I'm posting this a day late, but it really is worth reading! Highly recommended.

Watched "Only Lovers Left Alive" and loved the picture wall. If you saw the film and wondered who the people were, here's all the pictures identified. I'd spotted #SamuelBeckett but missed #OscarWilde. I also missed #MaryWollstonecraft but she got a line in the script.
