A couple of weeks ago,I had some rando come up to me at work to say "Congratulations, you're the last person in the country still wearing a mask, you've proved your point, you can take it off now!"
I was going to say I'm glad there is someone else out there, but I'm actually furious!

I think the thing that killed me most about the lack of masks other than my own at my grandfather's wake is wondering whether the assembled who weren't wearing masks among family, wear them when otherwise out, or if they contribute to the wakes for other families' grandparents. :(

Tomorrow is my grandfather's wake, after developing pneumonia following his first COVID infection in December 2022, passing January 5th 2023. Time to see how much of my family are COVIDiots that show up to the wake of a man who may still be alive were it not for COVID without wearing masks, and see if I can convince any of them to learn some fucking compassion and respect for science.

My grandfather died two days ago because someone, knowingly or not, went shopping while positive for COVID-19.

Since COVID can be spread asymptomatically, and since I'm one of very few masks I still see in the wild, this someone likely wasn't wearing one.

If COVID spreads asymptomatically, and you can't or won't avoid crowded places, wear a mask. Please.

Do you ever wonder how many of the tens of thousands of dead Canadians wouldn't be, had we only normalized and maintained mask wearing, at the absolute minimum, and not caved to corporate lobbyists and governments at all levels more concerned with an artificial, if entrenched, capitalist economic reality than human lives?

Today's highlight: I saw someone else in the office wearing a mask, and it wasn't one of those shitty blue surgical ones!

Today's lowlight: They took it off shortly after I saw them wearing it, and spent all day coughing, sneezing, blowing their nose, and sniffling, along with one other person in the office also exhibiting signs of illness.

After just a few seconds of "still face" exposure the baby is clearly uncomfortable. Trying to use all of its skill sets to engage its mother.

I'm glad my X is studying psychology. As if there weren't enough messed up people as is, she could have her hands full of "mask babies" as they grow older.
