Today the Massachusetts #EbikeRebate was on my mind. Just sent a letter to doer.energy@mass.gov to this effect:

Ebikes:
1) replace car trips
2) people who test ride an Ebike will often buy one!
3) are accessibility devices
4) far more affordable than car ownership
5) good for the environment
6) can carry cargo & passengers
7) good for business
8) great for health
9) provide community connection & #BikeJoy

@dankennedy_nu And importantly, if they do lack a rear light, this cannot be used by law enforcement to stop the cyclist- which gets to the inequity issue which might arise here.

I hope bike shops start to give a rear light with every bike purchase. #MassBike run free give always for rear lights, to give every one lights.

This bill will support not only the safety of people walking and biking, but also the safety of people in wheelchairs, construction workers on their job sites, tow truck drivers and first responders stopped on the side of the road, and anyone out on our public ways without the protection of steel, seatbelts, and airbags.
