I'm partway through #MassEffect2 and i'm starting to reflect on the fact that the theme of this (and every?) Mass Effect game is "don't let bureaucracy stop you".

It makes sense for an action game but at this stage in my life I feel like I go for more... coalition building, institution-strengthening themes.

My wife warned me about a mission In about to play in #DragonAgeInquisition because she knows me well and knows how laid back in RPG missions I usually am 😂😂😂

Like when I played #MassEffect2. I had to go rescue my crew and they were about to get killed and I said "Well, yes, BUT! Look at all these other sidequests that I'll be shut out of if I don't complete them NOW!". Long story short, three quarters of the crew died 😅

WELP. I was going to go do family things for the holiday, but I got a cold instead, which means I'm quarantining myself and playing #MassEffect2.

Managed to get the 'everybody lives!' ending, despite not having everyone loyal. Which in turn was due to some screw-ups on my part and also not giving a shit about Jacob's storyline, 'cause that dude's boring.

So! Just started re-playing #MassEffect2 yet again. And I'm reminded that the big ensemble cast lets the game delve into different sci-fi genres.

Kasumi's mission is cyberpunk. Tali's plotline is all about generation ships/fleets. Legion is there so the writers can play with AI ethics.

... and Jacob's mission is something out of a skeevy Baen novel.

I can finally go on to #MassEffect3 :blobhaj_tiny_hearts: Still debating whether I should try Insanity this time or keep to Hardcore for this playthrough. Hardcore could be frustrating at times on #MassEffect2, but once I got the hang of it, it was actually an enjoyable challenge. Also learned to use some tactics instead of running in guns blazing. I am seriously bad at tactics and patience :blobcatmeltcry:

Finally finished my second playthrough of #MassEffect2. This time on hardcore and I am never going to do that again (I hope), because it was such a pain in the ass. Not necessarily due to the difficulty, but because I still dislike the second game of the trilogy the most X'D So fucking thankful for the QoL changes with the mods I installed. Next time I ever touch this again, I'll also just skip the Minigames completely.

Has there been any amazing #SciFi games that have hit higher than #MassEffect2? I can’t think of any. Imagine if #Cyberpunk2077 had a fraction of the polish that ME2 does.

Another thing I love about #MassEffect2; the side missions don’t feel like a slog. They feel integral to the game. Each one feels fun, exciting, and it’s the absolute opposite of modern “RPGs” that copy and paste quests x ∞ and throw them carelessly all over a map.
Looking at you, #Ubisoft…

One of the best games I've ever played, excelling in ways I haven't seen in others like it.

Each mission feels so unique and fleshed-out. The voice acting is well-done, and the story is interesting and captivating. The gameplay isn’t too bad either, considering it’s over 10 years old.

I played #MassEffect a while ago, and for some reason put off playing 2. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to it. Absolutely loving it! ☺️

So, gerade läuft der Abspann von #MassEffect2 durch und ich bin ein wenig wehmütig. Zumindest habe ich es auch diesmal wieder geschafft, die komplette Crew zu retten. 👍

Weiter geht es mit #MassEffect3 🤩
