As of mid-November Earth is now burdened by supporting 8 billion people. It took only 12 years to get here from 7 Billion.

Growth rates are slowing slightly so it is predicted that it will take 15 years to get to 9 billion (2037) and around 2055 we should be hugging closely 10 billion neighbors

Impact from overpopulation of this magnitude may be a greater risk to a stabile civilization than climate change.
