The #8thavenue line (today served primarily by the #Atrain ) ran from 207th Street to Chambers Street in #manhattan. #vandalism and #theft at some #uptown stations caused some exit closures at 96th and 103rd Streets. Starting to save my mass transit tickets as keepsakes when I go to different cities.
#Pittsburgh on the left (went to Pittsburgh for exploration/shopping/R&R before the 4th of July, that happened to be the day when #anthrocon was happening - absolutely wild day that ended up being) and #ClevelandOH on the right - last week for some R&R.

And the existance and mainenance of it does benefit everyone - including those that can't or don't want to use public transport.
Look at #Tokyo, #Singapore and #Hongkong where owning a car is more of an exception than norm and it's more of a burden than necessity...

#PublicTransit can work and attract lots of commuters to use it. For a city like #Montreal where 1/4 of commuters regularly use public transit, I'm not surprised by its success. Commuters love trains, even more when it gives fast, efficient service with a view. Bravo to lucky Montrealers! We can only envy and dream about it out here in the #EasternTownships.

Took me over an hour to get home when my commute is usually 25 minutes. It continues to be insane to me that a country with the resources we have, can't get serious about high speed rail or at least other forms of #masstransit.
Gridlock traffic jams are entirely a choice.

Also, you board through two doors per carriage, rather than trying to use two doors to board the whole plane.
That means no "business class, premium frequent flyer, and special needs passengers are now boarding", "we're now boarding rows one through 20".
And there's no strict baggage limits, as you get on low-cost carriers. No extra fees if your checked suitcase weighs 19Kg when the checked baggage limit is 18kg. No last minute panic because you're only allowed 7.5kg of carry-on luggage but your bag just weighed in at 8Kg.
That means there's no need to arrive an hour early for a domestic flight or three hours early for international.
