Can someone point me to an #ExplainLikeImFive explanation of how the #fediverse WORKS?

I have #mastodon and #pixelfed accounts. How do i connect them? How hard is it for a viewer/reader to understand?

After the gut punch of Elon Musk’s Twitter, I’d like to transfer most everything to #FOSS and probably the fediverse.

I’d prefer something I can read, as opposed to video.

#Mastodon does NOT keep #Metadata when you upload JPEGs. Not surprising. Most sites strip out this information when they re-compress pics. In theory it's a good way to sign your work. But you're better off putting your signature directly in the image itself.

Windows lets you edit the metadata of JPG images in the file's properties (Details tab) You can select multiple image s to edit all of their metadata at once.

Testing #Metadata, and whether #Mastodon preserves it when you upload JPEG's.

In Windows you can add or modify the metadata of JPG images by going to the file's properties, and clicking the "Details" tab. You can also select multiple JPG image files and edit all of their metadata at once.
