Thanks to motivation from getting some new followers and a new hashtag to try, I got to work using Gimp to prep more screenshots of my for posting. 😁

Cat's Eye Top fits in two of my informal series: Colorful Abstracts and Conveying Motion. The name is from the shape like a toy top and the swooshes of color like the twists of color in cat's eye marbles. Lots of childhood nostalgia for me, though not for viewers probably. (1 of 2)

This vase is called Budding Helix. I was so pleased with it that I went to the extra effort to make an animated gif so I could show everyone how cool it looks when rotating. This piece makes use of the tinting affect that colors of clay in the game have on glaze colors - I used the cyan clay, which adds blue to all of the glaze colors, making pinks appear purple and whites appear pale blue, and so on. A challenge leading to inspiration.

And now, for something completely different! I bring you... A chicken. Aside from the zig zag pattern on the body this has none of my usual symmetry or geometric elements. It's just the most realistic chubby chicken I could make in MoP. The comb, wattle, and tail are built out of the wing shape that was added in the most recent update, while, ironically, the wings had to be built with the leaf shape.

Another in my series of colorful, geometric plants. This one is a blanket flower. Master Of Pottery expanded the number of attachments you can use to 50 in a recent update, and I believe this one uses all 50 - there are 5 squarish teapot spouts in each repetition of the pattern, 10 repetitions of the pattern to get a nice density of petals.

This sculpture is meant to represent a giant shiny white pearl decorated with black lace and curling ribbons. Or you could read the paint in an inverted way an imagine the central sphere is made out of white silk ropes.

I really enjoy enjoy the approach of giving an audience a straightforward interpretaion but also enough ambiguity that an alternate interpretation is possible.

Water And Sun Fountain is a sculpture intended to give the impression of a 2-way fountain: streams of water fall down and spill onto the surface the sculpture us sitting on, while between them light travels up and shoots into the sky. I was thinking the source of the light is the sunlight that always seems to glint and shimmer on the surface of any outdoor water; by removing the water, the light is left over and can be collected.

Apparently this picture is worth > 1.5k words, because I actually ran out of space when writing the alt text. If only the posts were that long on this instance...

This is Weirding Signal. One of my colorful abstracts series. With abstracts, the meaning is always whatever the audience finds there, so let me know if it give you any interesting thoughts! :) I *will* say that the name and shape refer to traffic signals aka stoplights.

Whoops forgot the samples. These were created in the game available on Steam. MoP is one of at least 3 pottery-making games on Steam. Dojagi: The Korean Pottery is playable in VR if anyone is a VR fan.

This is another 'collectible' teapot which might be functional but might be awkward to use, due to the handles being on the sides and no handle on the lid.

In retrospect I'm not sure about the shafts which connect the back third of the body to the tail. They add interest and complexity, but do they confuse the perspective?

One of the features in MoP is colors of clay: this is green. All the green parts you see have only clear glaze on them.

Spirit Tree is... well, it is up to you to decide if it is an alive tree overflowing with spiritual energy or the spirit (ghost) of a tree. The gradients are one of my favorite coloring options in the game, but like all the patterns that come pre-colored, they are difficult to adjust the color of. This is actually a Lesson: Do not combine pre-colored images with procedural coloring. Not even hard for a 2D artist to fix before implementation...

created in
Heart's Melody is an abstract piece but of I did a version of it as a drawing or painting it would be surreal. The base shape takes some inspiration from a biological heart with big arteries coming off the top, but I wanted to invoke the idea of listening to a seashell to hear the ocean. There's a bit of a pine organ thing going on with the spouts too. This is a happy and active heart just singing to itself as naturally as a songbird. 🥰

Punk Pinecone is (yet another) from . It's not especially pinecone shaped - maybe the bottom half of a pine cone. But the pattern reminded me of the wooden 'petals' of a pinecone. It looks like a stack of eight pineconelaters, or cymbals, of decreasing size in neon colors. It's not quite a rainbow gradient because there is an extra aqua inserted between purple and blue. I like thehand-painted look of this texture with its ragged edges and incomplete opacity.

Time once again for a created in . This is Vivacious Cactus, part of a geometric plants series that emerged among my MoP creations. Previously I posted Tulip Lotus, another 'plant' in this series. Anyway, Vivacious started out as a broad-shouldered vase with a small neck and a double or recurved foot (whatever you want to call it. This vase was then stretched into an octagonal star. (Well, it looks like a star from the top view.)

Another created in . This is Septeapot, a teapot or decanter with Seven sets of handles and spouts. In theory this could actually hold and pour liquids, but it might spill out multiple spouts at once. Crazy and mutated teapots are actually a long-established genre of sculpture. has had huge cultural importance in both Asia and Europe, and this plus the strong sensory memories associated with drinking tea are one reason people like collecting teapots.

Wide image is wide, sorry. This is a piece of my created in - I've been trying to post two of these a day. This peice is called Spherical Sunflower because it's an imagining of what might happen if the usually flat shape of a sunflower was warped into a sphere. The colors are similar to those of the sunflower variety Velvet Queen. This piece demonstrates one of my design goals: incorporating the lid of a pot as an integrated part of the sculpture.

@cgseattle Glad you like it! I have a pic of it by itself in warmer lighting, and some other fish sculptures. They are a somewhat popular theme in , I've seen some amazing ones made by other players.

Five pieces of which are variations on one of the most widely exported and imitated types of pottery in history: blue and white. In Chinese: 青花瓷. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_a
Wikipedia covers the history far better than I could. The painted flowers and horse are historical art supplied by the game. The pattern on the central jar is actually Egyptian, but I believe everything else is Chinese. The far right piece is supposed to be a kohaku koi fish (Japanese).

number three created within the game this piece is titled Tulip Lotus because I thought it looked like a visual blend between those two flowers. The green base shape seems like the way a lily pad would stretch if some force was pulling it into a more standard flower stem shape. I've always enjoyed inventing fantasy hybrids. 😊 The glaze used on this piece is a high gloss, so the lighting in the room is reflecting off it.

I forgot hashtags existed on my first virtual pottery post, so I'll repeat the background info in this one in case new people see it due to the tags. This image is a piece of titled "Funnel Cloud" that I created within the game Master of Pottery (steam). I'd describe it as a geometricized tornado. I'm interested in discussing games which include art-making or artistic , and also stories like this. Or 3D printing virtual art.
