I wonder if there will be community controversy over using the prefix #masto versus #masta... I am in the O camp. Case in point: people can't decide whether it is #mastadon or #mastodon. I propose that at a minimum we can all agree that #mastidon and #mastedon and #mastudon and #mastydon are PROBABLY incorrect. Which option is the wrongest?

After using #Mastidon this week,I never realized how draining it was to constantly be playing psychological warfare with social media dark patterns.

Avoiding liking & replying because I don’t want my interactions to appear in random people’s feeds or influence the algorithm.

Copying a URL and it isn’t appended with who knows what tracking data.

Not being force fed unwanted content and suggestions.

It reminds me of the early internet and feels like the start of something new and exciting.

Article makes a good point - people might prefer to flee than fight. IMO, #Twitter is now the largest #Mastidon instance, i.e., @ruud (and others) rule on mastodon.world. #Musk rules on Twitter.

With Mastodon, I'm exploring my options and maybe building a new presence on mastodon.world -- my #Twitter presence is particularly anemic.

But also, by being here, I'm not contributing to #Twitter's advert revenue streams.
