Checking htop on #footiMac after two weeks of operations with its upgraded resources, and new responsibilities.

It is still far more responsive in all respects. Changes I've noticed:
1) very few web response delays for Mastodon retrieving posts/notifications or uploading pictures/videos.
2) when I logged in remotely before it would take a few seconds. Now it is nearly instant.
3) according to htop the loads are below 0.70 most of the time.
4) RAM usage has gone from 3.2GB (84%) to 6.3GB (40%)

Resources before: 4GB RAM - Dual-core i5 - 1TB HDD
After: 16GB RAM - Dual-core i5 - 1TB SSD.

#MastoAdmin How do I raise the character of users Profile page?

Any #mastoadmin familiar with a way to force all remote bot accounts to limited by chance?

I am attempting to proactively squash someone who keeps creating more and more fediverse accounts to promote their livestream using hashtags I follow

They are nice enough to label these accounts as bots

Is it possible to make #mastodon write its temporary files to somewhere else other than /opt/mastodon? For example, the pull queue has jobs which download images etc to /opt/mastodon before being uploaded to S3 etc.

I tried setting PAPERCLIP_ROOT_PATH but that didn't seem to work.

I'm not making any assumptions about Kolektiva's sitch (cause I don't know the setup) but the performance issues we are experiencing are a good reminder that fediverse instances of significant size need to have a plan for scaling.

Bottlenecks can be unclear. Monitoring is critical. Distributing load and resources and load balancing traffic and accommodating for VPS limitations and high load are all essential considerations. And it takes a ton of work.

Folks are doing this on barebones budgets and it involves some niche expertise, but it's all super important for maintaining communication networks that people rely on.

Wir haben den Übeltäter gefunden. Unser Backup wurde nicht mehr richtig ausgelagert sondert lokal am Server gespeichert. Daher war heute wieder unsere Platte voll und ihr konnten nicht mehr tooten.
Fehler erkannt und gebannt!
