La densità dei temi trattati, l'intensità con la quale l'Autore li affronta, le innumerevoli citazioni e riferimenti culturali che ne costituiscono l'ossatura, rendono quest'opera immortale.
A distanza di anni, rileggerla fa scoprire ancora nuovi particolari.
A distanza di anni, la sua attualità non viene mai meno.
La riduzione cinematografica ha il suo perchè, ma l'opera grafica è senza pari.

Il Ritorno del Cavaliere Oscuro,Frank Miller,1986.
Il secondo albo,diviso in 4 parti,ad impattare sulla mia coscienza fumettistica.
Batman era da sempre stato tra i miei preferiti.
Vederlo vecchio,bolso e acciaccato cambiò radicalmente il mio punto di vista.
Ecco un eroe,da sempre umano senza poteri,portato alle sue estreme conseguenze.
Il tratto di Miller è implacabile,cupo,squadrato e ipertrofico.
Chi giudica male il Batman di Affleck,non ha mai letto questo fumetto.🏴☠️

Da questa frase latina deriva LA frase del fumetto Watchmen, ovvero "Who watches the watchmen?"
La scoprii per caso leggendo un albetto degli X-men.La trovai ricorrente in molti altri fumetti.
Poi scoprii il perchè.
Watchmen:serie a fumetti del 1986/87,testi di Alan Moore,disegni di Dave Gibbons.
Al pari di opere analoghe,stabiliva un nuovo paradigma: i Supereroi erano "umani".
Niente più Golden Age,ma traumi,debolezze e anime incrinate.
