hello #mastodev i made a feature request to implement removing a follower when unfollowing, a lá softblocking, as a part of the unfollow UI https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/26891
The previous @fediforum unconference in March resulted in new connections, refined ideas, and more collaboration among fediverse users, operators, and developers.
I am looking forward to the next event on September 20–21. I hope to get feedback on my progress building Open Payments and Web Monetization support into the social Web.

The easiest way to get a photo from my personal phone to my work computer is to share the photo with my wife on WhatsApp, download the photo to my personal computer and post it to fedi, and load my fedi profile on my work computer. #productivity #ThoughtLeader #MastoDev

Merci d’avance :)
I am looking for an IDE for Ruby to run on Debian-based Linux. Anything that I have found so far is either discontinued or proprietary. What are yous using?
BTW emacs of vim is not what I am looking for, I have Geany. The problem is that having to navigate the code base with grep is kinda slow & painful.
Boosts welcome

I do hope it helps. I relay as much as I can on my server. It does use a bunch of space in the database and in the image store, but I like to believe it's worth it and gives an experience equal to those on the larger instances I relay with.
But, I've never seen much documentation about it.
While it would be nicer for everyone if the culture of adding a content warning or subject to their uspol and us political posts, we also have tools to #filter our timelines too, and they're called filters
Just add a list of words you don't want to see to your filters! If you set it to hide behind a warning you basically get your own CW filter, which is neat if you can take the time and effort to make up a list (sure would be nice to import more types of data settings, and lists #mastodev)
All these people complaining about #FOSStodon why don't you just #fork it?

“Our scalable Mastodon implementation is also significantly less code than Mastodon’s official implementation”
On average, https://combine.social is processing 50 messages per second currently.
It’s making sure that people get all the missing replies to messages from remote instances in their feeds.
It makes me happy to be able to provide a service which makes your experience better, even if it’s in a small way.
Some of the joy of software engineering is to take a complex issue and make the solution appear simple.

OK, does nobody have any idea how I can #filter toots from my home #timeline when they originate from an account which is member of a #list ?
#Userstory
As a Mastodon User
I want postings from accounts which are members of a list
Not to show up in my home timeline
So that my home timeline isn't cluttered

It looks like if and when full-text search comes to #Mastodon, it will be *opt-in* on a per-user basis, meaning you will have to opt-in to having your statuses indexed.
Your statuses will *not* be indexed by default.

Hey, I'm an instance admin who has been around for a while now.
I would only like to see full-text search as a feature if it is an opt-IN (e.g. off by default) feature, particularly when speaking of content originating elsewhere.
I would definitely be one of the people who would *choose* to opt-in. However, I know too many where that raises real concerns that I would be an asshat if I ignored or dismissed.
I prey to all of the gods that ever were or ever will be that the Mastodon developers will finally exclude the highly useful content warnings and hashtags that make Mastodon what it is from the character count of the post.
I mean come on. We already do it with image descriptions, and I'm not suggesting we don't put some kind of limit on number of hashtags or CW length, but this is just obtuse when we're encouraged to use these features, then punished for doing so.

Ok, I did not touch #Toob code for -- checks github -- 6 months and I just did get back to it, fixing a bug (add a GIF from a mobile keyboard) and added a feature (toot translation), in under 15 minutes including a laptop reboot.

Has anyone made a hashtag discovery device? The dropdown on the website is 'nice' ("X people used this this week!") but insufficient.
I really don't want to have to write one.
