How much am I loving the following hashtags feature. Slow burn to #mastodonappreciation

I have been on #mastodon for nearly a month. With that, I have essentially stopped using #twitter. This is my new online forever home. 🤣 I don't like #toxicity in the water I drink, so I certainly don't need it on the web.

It is so good here. And I think I have finally gotten the hang of all the quirks to this place (I will probably make mistakes and blunders with mastodon, so please be patient and forgiving!). 🙏

Initially, I felt voracious, absorbing all the toots and reading every article. But I think I have reached a saturation point with the amount of toots I am seeing. I am following over 500 people now and as much as I want to #GottaCatchEmAll, I simply can't see all the toots! I have removed my local and federated feeds from the #tusky app because I don't have the time to browse them in addition to my home feed, my hashtag feed, and my notification feed (which is in addition of course to my time in the real world).

So to all my #vegan friends, if you posted a clever, funny, insightful, interesting, topical, controversial, or newsworthy toot about #veganism, #AnimalRights, #AnimalWelfare, and/or their connections to #ClimateChange and the #ClimateEmergency, and I don't favourite it, boost it, or comment on it, it probably means I missed it amongst the sea of other toots, and it wasn't #hashtagged.

Please #hashtag your toots like it's 2007! 🙃🥳🤘

Some things I've liked/found useful so far on Mastodon, in no particular order:

1. Favoriting a post is just for me & the account that posted it. It doesn't go into followers' feeds, and no one can see a list of what I've favorited other than me.

2. Hashtags can be followed, like an account.

3. Metatext (iOS) is an app that has a similar-to-Twitter look and feel. (I've heard Tusky is good for Android.)

4. I like that I can post longer than 280 characters!

This might sound weird, but one of my favourite things here on Mastodon is the content warnings!! In the mildest uses I can see what the post is about before digging in, and avoid spoilers when I inevitably have to tape sporting events and watch them later. Normalizing the use of content warnings is a wonderful thing I think! #MastodonAppreciation

I gotta say, I really appreciate how you get notified of when a poll you participated in has ended at this place.

Also, how third party clients work with them is good too.
