Question #MastodonWeb #developers: How do you get ahold of the bearer token for #GreaseMonkey compatible requests?

Right now, I have to hardcode it, and can't find it in the usual places (global variables, local db storage, etc). I checked out the source a little too. Still no clue.

The procedure for adding alt text to images on Mastodon is clearly something that needs improvement. And once it's easy, it needs to be mandatory to display an image.

In the #Mastodon HTTP APIs, is there any way to find out what my user ID (@Name@Domain) is, the one I am currently have an access token for?
For a bots I want to determine, if the current bot itself was the author of a post.

I guess this feature will allow to discover some other accounts, potentially increasing the number of followers for that account that got its post favorited.

The most exposure a post has in home timelines, the better chance to meet more alike accounts, related to my interests and to the accounts I follow.

I would like to see some day here on :mastodon: #mastodon an option where you can select to see #favourites from the accounts I follow in the Home #timeline (of course with their permission).

In other words:

* Here for me, the user who wants to see the favourited posts made by accounts I follow (pic 1)

* Here for them (account I follow) who allows his/her/its favorited posts to be seen or not in public timelines ("posting privacy" option - pic 2)

Question for #mastodondevelopers . If I delete a post that contains media, does it get deleted? Or does it sit on the server incuring server costs every month?

I post my videos from youtube, and I'm weary if posting gifs as much as usual. Does #Mastadon reuse gifs on the same server? If not, why not? Gifs are usually generic, pooling them makes sense. It would also make sense to expose them to the apps so users can pick a pooled gif.

Where do I add Mastodon development requests? Is there a gitlab page or something.

@alexis I have been pointing out the opportunity, through all the newcomers, to learn about onboarding friction. It's a gold mine of reactions and observations to help remind us of the pain points and suggest priorities.

How is this done in an open-source setting, with over a dozen apps on an API?

Who needs to be persuaded? Who can influence and lead? Who will say that #usability is at least as important as more features?
