#MastodonDevs why do toots start with a capital letter, but replies start with a lowercase letter?

Ok. So, I've been followed by the same account at least three times. What explains this??

Unfortunately, Mastodon doesn't seem to record this activity for me. My notifications only show the latest follow.

Repeatedly getting notifications about one account following you is annoying behavior and degrades the usefulness of that entire category of notifications. It would be better to have a record to prove that this is happening.

Yeah, there's a reason why I:
1) never use the "official" app
2) never recommend the "official" app
3) never refer to the "official" app
4) never assent to the idea that there could ever be one app that's "official."

Because it's kinda off. It's kind of a cultural half-breed.

#MastodonDevs I found an interesting set of endpoints in the #MastodonAPI. I don't see a single app utilizing it!

Featured/Endorsed Accounts

This allows a user to pin other ACCOUNTS to theirs. Just like with lists, you have to be following them. Assume it would appear in the Profile.

Used the API to "endorse" a couple of my alternate accounts. A way to verify identity or personal relationships, I guess. Anyone have history on these and why they aren't used?

Right now, I have to hardcode it, and can't find it in the usual places (global variables, local db storage, etc). I checked out the source a little too. Still no clue.

This could be something as simple as adding a valid wildcard option to the current search syntax

Something like:

@[legitimate_user]@*

The * is a universally understood UNIX/Linux wildcard in many contexts

Here, it would mean "Find [legitimate_user] on any federated server"

Might return multiple hits, but so what?

This is a thread from someone who's over from Twitter

So he can "Mute Conversation" as the thread creator (as I or you can mute our conversations as creators) but I see no option for me as a mere viewer to mute the thread after I've read it

Or I can mute him completely, or mute his instance/server, neither of which I want to do

He's up to 28 posts so far, and it pushes out a lot of other traffic

One thing that the #Mastodon distro at large really needs to address and patch for is the ability to mute all but the initial post in a thread

If Mastodon really wants to accept a broad spectrum of posters, there needs to be a method to prevent the Home or Local feeds from being swamped by every single post in a thread that's 10-20-30 posts long

At the present I see no way to do this

It would be great if we could have a Folder Structure + Search in which to sort the posts we bookmark. After one bookmarks 20, one needs a management interface of some sort to access them again.

bothersome UI moments for #mastodondevs to hopefully consider: consistency in closure of pop-ups - button/no-button? field click? this is a bit all over the map...

Herewith an observation re functionality w/i list management:

TW offers little to no meaningful ways manage followers. Mastodon offers more, but is missing these three functions (as TW does) to sort:

--Date of follow / following
--Alphabetical sort
--Geographical sort

If they are there, I can see no way to access it in the present interface. #Newbie
