A lot of times when using mastodon (I interact with it using #IvoryForMacOS) I think “I wish it had this feature”, although it may be a feature that I wish #Mastodon itself had. Is there a #MastodonFeatureRequest tag in common use?

#MastodonFeatureRequest: Currently, when a user I follow posts a long 1/∞ thread, where most of it is OP replying to self, I get notified for every post by OP in that thread. I'd like to be able to choose to not be notified of chained-replies-to-self posts. Or maybe, say, a threshold of 3 chained RTSes, past which the 4th RTS triggers sending only one more "click to read full thread" notification for that RTS chain.

I would love a list of the number of interactions I have had with each account. Mainly because I want to add those I obviously like but haven't added yet.

Any chance an Image Gallery function could be added as a Mastodon Feature at some point? Even one that a user could pay to have hosting for per year which integrates as part of a Mastodon profile?

The only reason I still have a FB presence after getting rid of my primary personal profile there is because I host my entire art gallery collection there (2,000 art pieces), if Mastodon had that feature I could get rid of FB all together and host them all here.

New Mastodon feature idea! The option to have any/all tooted image(s) without AltText automatically filtered out. That way I don’t have to keep saying to myself, “That’s really good, too bad that fecking wanker didn’t add AltText.” And scroll past it.

Would it be useful if Mastodon to have Reddit style upvote buttons?

I like to upvote things to show agreement, but I don’t want to favourite something and I don’t want to boost it to my feed. But I would like to show support for a post or opinion.

I feel like maybe an upvote button would be very handy for that!

I wish #Mastodon would organize 🧵 from the first post of the thread starter rather than displaying every part of the thread in chronological order, with the newest posts first. It gets mixed up with other people's posts and makes it harder to interact with.

every time a #mastodon instance goes down from the #fediverse, as is happening right now with the .party and .plus servers, it should be a wake-up call that migration of an entire account, posts included, is table stakes for a social media system

yes, there are technical challenges (import json? csv? over-the-wire from original server?) and you'd have to flag imported posts and all that jazz. still totally worth doing, imo

Keyword-based content warnings would be cool. As an example, users with arachnophobia could automatically hide posts with spider in their text or image accessibility text.

They wouldn’t be fully muted, just hidden and shown at the user’s discretion (like normal content warnings)

I'm here to interact with people, and that's really hard when so many users are just forwarding their tweets here. Am I speaking with a human or their bot? I would like to be able to tell before engagement takes place. Ultimately I would like to be able to filter out those accounts.

Until it’s easier to swap in a list for the home timeline, I’m reaching the point where I need to unfollow folks I like so I don’t feel like I’m missing stuff from folks I love. That’s a bummer.

(Probably dumb) feature request: I wish there was a way for the most loquacious posters to optionally label their “best” toots so I could toggle between “all” or “best” when my feed is especially firehosey.
