Came across this today: https://followgraph.vercel.app/ You input your Mastodon user name and instance, and it looks at the accounts you follow, then grabs the ones that those people follow. It then generates a list of accounts you may be interested in, and which of the people in your followers list follow them.

Mastodon instances (servers) are independent. Most, like the one I am on, are full of "random" people because anyone can sign up.

BUT

Some instances are specialized and have accounts from maybe organization or directed at people with certain interests.

For example, an example of specialization is https://botsin.space/, which only hosts bots.

Now, the fun thing is that you can go there and look at the local feed and see what is coming out of that instance.

The coollest thing I have found on Mastodon so far is the Federated Feed.

This feed is a sample (randomish sample) of what is going around Mastodon, apparently influenced by what people on the instance I use are favoriting or retooting.

However it works, it is bringing in a TON of fun stuff that I would never think to actually look for. Much more fun than any "suggested posts" pulled from an algorithm.
