I guess my #Mastodon #Instance will always be on 4.0.2. I can‘t seem to upgrade to a newer version successfully. Either the services never start again or I have the elephant error. I needed to restore a snapshot 4-5 times now. I gave up trying. #MastodonInstance #Upgrade

Update for everyone who expressed interest in how I was finding #SelfHosting a #MastodonInstance: I’ve just migrated my server from DigitalOcean to @mastohost … or rather, I should say Hugo at #MastoHost migrated my server for me.

Least hassle I’ve ever had setting up any kind of hosting account, and just really exceptional service. And better server specs for less money per month! Honestly can’t recommend them enough so far. :blobcatthumbsup:

There are (opens post on original page) 34 replies missing to a post someone had boosted into my Home timeline.

This is something I've noticed ever since going the #SelfHost route and I'm not sure I understand enough to try fix it or make it better.

I just know that it feels like I'm often missing out on discussions. I still want to run some tests with this, but I think I'll be switching back to a larger instance... soon™️.

@april @ivory @IceCubesApp I know that the paywall is a HUGE ISSUE for me, but it’s pretty much their old Twitter app with a #Mastodon skin on it. It doesn’t support filters, mutes or timeline position sync. Last I checked it didn’t. I’m using the #TestFlight version so far. I will not get the store version because I don’t want to pay extra. I’ll support my #MastodonInstance but I won’t support a half baked app.

@chrisg I totally agree with you. This is why I am so happy to have my own #MastodonInstance / #MastodonServer

I love that this is federated, and that I own this like I own my own site (as much as you can own a service when it runs on someone else's server infrastructure).

This way, I am not reliant on someone other than my hosting provider to keep my stuff going.
