We have #SmartRich and #StupidRich.

If they tried to buy many #MastodonInstances I'd call that Stupid Rich, almost like someone inherited a lot of money or won money and then decides to do stupid stuff.

I think #Meta is the kinda of #SmartRich who make smart choices when it comes to #CommonSense and they care about their image, at least the part which they can do something about(like not making a fool of themselves).

Inviting admins to an "Instagram Party" isn't stupid...

I just want to praise and thank @admin and the rest of the volunteers at https://typo.social for hosting one of the few Mastodon instances with more than 1,000 users and 100% up time.

The blessing and curse of #MastodonInstances. The ability to connect closely with a community that shares your values or interests is cool, but ends up meaning picking something to chiefly identify yourself with at the cost of other things.

Still, I do like having the interest-based instances, because even if I'm not local to another instance like horror.hub, it is easy to spot a lot of people who share my interests.

Does it matter which Mastodon server you use, unless a super specific one? Much between mstdn.social and mastodon.social? As a general user trying to figure this out? #mastodoninstances

So, I've been thinking of setting up my own mastodon server. It would be for only me and a few close friends in the www.PotholeStudios.com gaming community.

However, I seem to be running into a few snags.

1. I only have access to Windows server. No Linux. As I have other server software for some games that only run on windows server.

2. Everybody's favourite, Dynamic IP.

3. I do have a domain name, but I'd probably have to use a subdomain such as social.potholestudios.com or mastodon.potholestudios.com so how would I link a subdomain like that to a server on a dynamic IP through GoDaddy?

So, the question is, is it possible to run a Mastodon server with these limitations?

@H I like that this #instance doesn't have the #Mastodon logo when browsing in my #WebBrowser so it's easier for me to not get confused when I have other #MastodonInstances in various other tabs.

I like the S logo. This is distinct and recognizable. More services should do like this instance does it.
