#mastodon #n00b #question: I've noticed that when I DM people here, sometimes the system posts these messages as if they're posts and not DMs, which is a bit unsettling for obvious reasons. I've deleted the unintentional toots & retried DM'ing them a few times but it's still posting my DMs as toots instead of DMs. What do I need to do differently, if anything, to fix this? I thought all DMs would be listed in the "DM" section? Pls enlighten me, sage tooters. TY! #mastodonnoob #mastodonquestion

So, what’s the biggest thing missing here from the blue-bird app? Feels almost the same after I imported my follows from there #MastodonNoob

Okay maybe someone more experienced than me with Mastodon can answer this: does clicking on a hashtag only show you results from the server your on + people you follow? I hope not because that REALLY sucks if you’re not on a big server. And since there’s no real search….

Nothing like learning a new platform to make you feel slightly inept. Didn’t realize my account was locked sorry for all of those waiting for follow requests responses. I unlocked it now and have no idea if that will auto accept all the previous requests or not. #MastodonNoob

- boost liberally and hashtag liberally
- things can get janky sometimes and not everything is smooth but remember this is all decentralized so be patient

Another proof I’m the perfect tester for any #GUI : trying to move to a newly created handle (on another #server /domain) simple doesn’t seem to work. Keep getting error messages that both new handle on new domain is not recognised, nor is the password of this current handle… 🤷‍♂️ Anybody? #switching #mastodonnoob
