So, I've been thinking of setting up my own mastodon server. It would be for only me and a few close friends in the www.PotholeStudios.com gaming community.

However, I seem to be running into a few snags.

1. I only have access to Windows server. No Linux. As I have other server software for some games that only run on windows server.

2. Everybody's favourite, Dynamic IP.

3. I do have a domain name, but I'd probably have to use a subdomain such as social.potholestudios.com or mastodon.potholestudios.com so how would I link a subdomain like that to a server on a dynamic IP through GoDaddy?

So, the question is, is it possible to run a Mastodon server with these limitations?

The instance is experiencing some minor hiccups as it re-establishes itself with the fediverse since moving servers. The biggest one being Home feed updates, so I will likely be missing everything posted the past week by the people I follow.

The new company isn't to blame at all. They've been amazing. But people who are new to running an instance may not be aware of these sort of things if/when a server move is necessary.
