This guy and the #Mammoth in the next room were both found on the Aucilla River in the #Florida panhandle.

While mammoths had flat teeth that were good for grinding grasses, mastodon teeth had high ridges good for leaves and other tree parts. In fact, the name means "breast tooth" in honor of the nipple-like shape of the ridges on their teeth.
