So, it's pretty easy to get your data on Mastodon.

For me I'm on Mastodon.ie so I go to

https://mastodon.ie/settings/export

If you're on a different server say dice.camp you'd go to

https://dice.camp/settings/export

Then you can download a .csv which is a special sort of Excel file* that you can use to recreate your follow list if your admin gets a bit "defed happy" and you have all your connections with another server broken.

Getting used to the Mastodon interface I didn't realize at first how much I would miss a pop-up when I hover on someone's profile pic so that I can see their minibio.

Having to visit the full profile to figure out if I already know this person but not by that name is a drag. Following a single conversation leads to a dozen open tabs.

I can't imagine doing this on my phone. Feeling comfortable will take a while.
