For Mastodon, what are the steps for creating a series of connected posts as a single narrative?

I find #Threads on Mastodon very unwieldy. I like your idea about having a special type.
I have no idea to whom I should make suggested improvements.
I would like to have an anchor post for threads that appears in timelines with the option to expand to its attached thread.
