Looks like Mastodon still has some work to do on the polling feature, especially on the iOS apps. Mastodon app (purple) gives wrong number of total votes and nonsensical percentages. A few other #MastodonWebUI #MastodonUX things I noticed recently:

* BUG: Apparently, the search-results popups on the Advanced UI tag-search may be hardcoded to use a dark background. Noticeable on light theme (as you have dark dropdown + black text)

* "Followed Hashtags" should be visible from the "Follows" Prefs page, and now just 3-dot icon menu beside your profile ID (in the compose pane)

Hmm... ok, that experiment didn't go too well... IMO, the "Advanced Web Interface" is ultimately way too busy / confusing / distracting for my taste.

Instead, what I'd really like to see is the ability to make lists from hashtags you follow (ideally with multiple hashtags being able to be assigned to a list)

AFAICT, Lists currently only allow adding people only and not tags (and previously neither)

@MartinEscardo Oooh, that's a good point. I think here you just get notified of responses to your own posts. And I can definitely see room for improvement. It could be driven off favorites. It could be driven off whether you post a reply to the parent. And regardless of how the defaults work, pretty sure we'd want a "subscribe/unsubscribe to this thread" menu item like slack does. #MastodonUX

General question about how to share video on Mastodon. Youtube offers options (copy-and-paste link, embed, sharing for several social media platforms), but no Mastodon-specific option.

Copy-and-paste link works, sort of. What's the recommended way to share video on Mastodon?

another #MastodonUX problem is the hurdles in the way of blocking an instance. this looks like one to block, but apparently to do that i need to either be on a post from that instance (good luck finding one - see previous post), or search for the instance directly? but that's not supported on any of the ios apps?

On the #ActivityPub level, Content Warnings occupy the title/name slot of a post (you know, that old subject field for #email or #Usenet articles? It was there for a reason).

That should be exposed directly and shouldn't count against character count in posts.

Mastodon devs: Why can't being presented with the alt text box be the default when adding an image, so that the poster would have to dismiss it if they don't want to add alt text?

I wish #Mastodon had a setting where accounts could opt to let other users add them to their Lists without having to also follow them. Would be very useful in particular for eg bot accounts or 'broadcast' posters that you want to check periodically but don't want to see every single post from because they publish much too frequently to make that a viable option.
