Just learned something about the #MastodonWebUI today: Apparently the "3-dot" menu on the compose pane (beside your profile name) has the "Muted Words" entry to take you straight to the Filters page, instead of having to jump through Preferences first.
Would still prefer to have the ability to do that in a movable / draggable + resizable floating panel that I can have in the same window as the offending post, I can more easily copy text out of it without switching back and forth. But this helps
A few other #MastodonWebUI #MastodonUX things I noticed recently:
* BUG: Apparently, the search-results popups on the Advanced UI tag-search may be hardcoded to use a dark background. Noticeable on light theme (as you have dark dropdown + black text)
* "Followed Hashtags" should be visible from the "Follows" Prefs page, and now just 3-dot icon menu beside your profile ID (in the compose pane)
Hmm... ok, that experiment didn't go too well... IMO, the "Advanced Web Interface" is ultimately way too busy / confusing / distracting for my taste.
Instead, what I'd really like to see is the ability to make lists from hashtags you follow (ideally with multiple hashtags being able to be assigned to a list)
AFAICT, Lists currently only allow adding people only and not tags (and previously neither)
I'm considering moving to something other than the #MastodonWebUI - I might end up using a text client for mastodon, and in that case it'll also help that images have alt text. Maybe I'll have to open some images externally, but perhaps for others the alt text will be more than enough.
In this example, one thing OCR tools might miss is that some text is selected.
@mjgardner One thing that worries me in this is: the fate of the #threads hashtag. I guess this will now become one of its meanings.
I wonder if it could have been #FBThreads, #MetaThreads or the like (*) instead. But too late for that, I guess? I think it's being widely used now.
(*) (or actually [looks at bottom right edge of #MastodonWebUI]: #ThreadsAPP?)
#threads #fbthreads #metathreads #mastodonwebui #threadsapp
The scrolling position also seems to "leak" between #MastodonWebUI different views, if I'm scrolled down in middle of "Home", and choose "@njsg", I might land in the "@njsg" view, already scrolled down, instead of at the top.
The #mastodonwebui "edit list" "dialog" having the textbox to edit the list title right above the search input textbox (to look up people to add to the list) is going great for me!
... I know it's a PEBKAC, but I wonder if something could be done to make it harder to mistake the two textboxes...
Just discovered something to NOT do via the #MastodonWebUI
(likely #bug)
If you start uploading a picture, then drag another one to the text box while the first is still uploading:
1) The progress bar starts jumping back and forth erratically.
2) Eventually, only the first one gets uploaded.
3) Attempts to re-upload the failed image result in the erratic progressbar + "500" HTML errors when the upload completes. (Requires page reload to work again)
@Em0nM4stodon In the #MastodonWebUI, while you type a #hashtag in your toot, the occurrence of the hashtag (per week) pops up, also of hashtags consisting of what you type. So helpful for using effective hashtags.

It would be nice if #Mastodon #toots supported #Markdown, right?
I just tried to use backticks for `code`, but it just shows up as normal text.

Posts without hashtags will not be found on Mastodon as there is no proper search, unfortunately.
So always use #hashtags.

Does each Mastodon app keep the followed hashtags separately? Or is it just different UI? Tusky did not see hashtags followed via web, but web sees hashtags followed via Tusky. Also there is no indication of these anywhere until I directly search for them, only then they can be unfollowed? A bit confusing #UX. #MastodonWebUI #mastodon #tusky #tuskyapp #hashtags

I recently discovered that while using #Safari on #iOS you can see #AltText in the #MastodonWebUI by clicking on an image then long pressing on the image.
