kopiti.am went offline over the National Day holiday due to an expiring cert which they fixed it a day later. But it also meant that for about an evening or so, I wonder if my #Mastodon instance is off the internet - for good!

Would be good if there’s a way where the server or the admin will trigger some form of PSA announcement which basically says “hey we’re just temporary offline…” instead of just leaving the user hanging.

This feature would help reduce the number of screen shots being appended to toots. A screen shot could require 50K or more while a small 4K file would use less disk space, saving instances money.

I would love it if there was a #location field in the bio. Not a specific location but something that allows you to put ‘UK’ or ‘Paris’ or something.

It’s really difficult to tell where people are in the world if they don’t mention in their bio.

Understood that some people don’t want to reveal location for various reasons but it’d be optional.

(If it’s already there can someone point me to it - I’ve checked my settings on the server instance and I can’t find it)

@scottsthoughts #MastodonWishlist I really agree with this idea, there are several servers that I would love to browse from time to time. I don’t want to leave the mobile app to do it, and I don’t want to create second accounts on those servers either.

1) Something besides just black and white color schemes; I'd like to be able to set my own, honestly

2) Ability to thread replies, like comment systems do with indenting, and ability to collapse and expand subthreads - it makes things more conversational.

3) a quote-tweet function if only to share what others are putting out - maybe a way which wards off the insane way things can go viral, regardless of importance or truth?
