Having things distrusted like it is on Fediverse means I don't have to miss out if there's a server problem. I can still follow people and hashtags and stay connect. If this were a monolithic service, I'd be out of luck.

(I remember when Twitter was fail-whaling during some events several years ago; there was no backup solution way back then.)
