Bench Day #15. Remax day.
Started with a 5 mile run, then some push ups, rings rows and pump strength to warm up the chest and shoulders.
My max before the current cycle was #145. First time doing bench since 2016 when I had achieved #195.
Today, after just 14 workouts in the cycle I benched #175!

Just finished my morning run. 5 miles at an 11:03 pace. Came in under an hour. That was my current goal. Next up I’m going to use a slow 5 mile run as my base training but start adding shorter but faster runs in. Building up to a sub 30 5k.
Now down to the basement to do a short lift. Benchpress 5-3-1 at 80-85-90% of max. Session 13 out of 15 for the current cycle. Schedule permitting, I’ll be remaxxing towards the end of the week!

Nearly done for the day. I attended a functional fitness group today. Basically CrossFit without the branding or the coaches. Ran to the group and home afterwards. Group meets several times a week. I’m considering joining them regularly.
Of course today was leg day there, so the run home SUCKED and was honestly as much walking as running. I will probably plan to do my entire run before class in the future so I can just drive there and back. No jelly legs on the way home that way.
Still got to push out some bench press this afternoon. Planned 5x5 @ 125#.

Same route as yesterday, but about 4 1/2 minutes faster.
I’m not doing specific speed workouts or anything like that. Just running increasingly longer distances and running a pace that feels comfortable for the day. More focused training will start coming later after I lose some more weight.

Finished out my afternoon with a few games of bowling. Trying to make some measurable progress before league starts up again. I feel like I am making some progress. It’s hard to tell sometimes.
High game today was 158.
Another day, another run with some strength added in.
Run: ~37 minutes
Bench Press: 5x5 @ 70% + 20lbs (115#)
Next will, I’ll be adding in a second strength item. Either deadlifts or power cleans. TBD.
I also plan to benchmark my back squat next week so I can start building that in in the coming weeks.

Weight loss is often the reason your insecurities exist, if you move onto a path more like my client here, then you will be surprised how quickly you move away from being imprisoned by your insecurity.
