I wonder if there's a managed hosting service for #Firefish, like #mastohost for Mastodon. Still keep searching anyway. It's pretty new yet looks soooo interesting to create a single-user instance on it.

Btw I just got an invite from #SpaceHost, but there's no instructions but to blindly bind a card first. $12 is kinda too much for me to risk an unknown.

The issue preventing the feeds from refreshing last night and this morning have now been fixed. This was due to a bug in the update to Mastodon 4.1.5 yesterday and the awesome folks at @mastohost figured it out and got it patched this morning.

Between you and a bunch of others I ended up being advised to upgrade by at least 4 or 5 separate people hah!

Really really solid work by the community to get the word out. Very envious and really demonstrates the power of the #fediverse

In my case I already had a migration to #mastohost scheduled, so that's why I was lagging behind on the upgrades 😳

@schmidt I don't know anything about self-hosting an instance, but a lot of people seem to do it, so I wonder if there's a hashtag which might act as a bat signal to get some good advice. (#SelfHosting, maybe? #MastoHost? )

@aaron I have a simple single user instance with #MastoHost. Am happy so far. I underestimated initially, so went with the smallest plan. I had to upgrade to the next plan (USD 9 a month I think?) as i was doing probably too much with #Fedifetcher and #GetMoarFediverse . But since then things are fine based on my (current) usage. Update: the issue is the Elasticsearch Bitnami chart dependency, not Mastodon itself. I found a managed service offering to use instead.

However, removing all of the Bitnami dependencies then unveils a transitive dependency that is not yet fully fixed: https://github.com/mastodon/chart/pull/60

I think my only option is to maintain a fixed fork temporarily. I have nearly bled to death from the papercuts at this point. 🤣

Phew, the media storage usage for my Mastodon hosting finally went down. I was getting a bit worried I'd have to upgrade my little solo instance again 😅

I uh, might have gotten carried away adding some more relays this time around - they work great! but if you add too many it'll ramp that usage up 📈

I do wish there was a way to view what relay is doing the most damage, perhaps there is, I just don't know where to see it.
