#mastoQuestion for peeps, is #mastodon able to search for users on #misskey? From what I can tell it doesn't seem to be the case. Following a couple of people on there from finding their posts on hashtags and I can find mastodon users from my Misskey account. If we can't, I definitely hope that gets fixed in the future.

For several reasons I'd like to start preparing my transition away from Signal, not necessarily abandoning it entirely (most of my family is on it, now), but at least starting to move my own usage to a #Matrix or #XMPP #bridge.

I see two main possibilities:
- host my own bridge
- use #ElementMatrixServices

Would anyone recommend any of the two (or another possibility)?
I'd also be interested in any review/feedback on #Element in general.

That's what I'm wondering too.
My App automatically puts Replies into "unlisted" but I think it still turns up in Followers "Home" timelines.
That's why I sometimes turn replies into DMs to avoid that. I'm not sure though.

with the options:

to include the 1...4 images or video preview image

to include image description text/s.

Is there any way in a quick glance to tell if an image someone posted has ALT-text? (Or can I turn on a feature that shows that?)

That's probably a dumb question but Mastodon/Tusky does not use Firebase for Notifications, does it?

I only get my notifications in batches in certain intervals and they also don't get pushed to my Smartwatch.

Can the global timeline be hidden on an instance for people without an account?

When people come to the index page of my instance, I do want them to be able to get a taste what is discussed on the instance and who is there, but nothing from the global timeline as that might confuse newcomers to what is said on this instance and what is said elsewhere.

Anyone know how to achieve this?

#mastoquestion: it's possible to set language filters either in your profile settings or per-followed-user (to see only posts in English, for example). But do you know if you can set this up per-timeline/column, so you can enable/disable easily? I'm thinking a "Filter by language" toggle, similar to the current "Show boosts" foe example...
