Thanks @hosford42 for reminding me of this half-day tutorial on Vector Symbolic Architectures / Hyperdimensional Computing. The authors have been applying HDC/VSA to place recognition in robotics, but the tutorial coverage is much wider.

Here are two high level articles that mention Vector Symbolic Architecure / HyperDimensional Computing in the more "popular" end of the technical press:

From the organisers:
This July, the Cognitive Science Society is bringing its annual conference to Sydney. Our main reason for hosting our conference in Australia is to support cognitive scientists in the area who may not have been able to attend our in-person conferences easily in recent years. We'd love to see you there!
We have an excellent invited program on the theme Cognition in Context, and we have increased our financial support for travel to ensure a lively, international, in-person event. Details can be found on the conference website: https://cognitivesciencesociety.org/cogsci-2023/

The Australasian Mathematical Psychology Conference 2023 is only three weeks away! This is a friendly reminder to register your early bird attendance and submit your abstract by the extended deadline, midnight Friday January 27th 2023.
This year, AMPC will take place at the University of Melbourne, Melbourne Connect Building, February 8th – 10th 2023. The conference will be a single-stream hybrid format, occurring both online and in person, and speakers may indicate a preference for a short (8 + 2 minute question time) or long talk (15 + 5 minute question time).
Online attendance will be free, while in-person early bird tickets (prior to Jan 27th) range from student ($30), to early career academic ($80), to senior academic ($160).
All information regarding tickets, abstract submissions, and the annual dinner can be found through our website https://ampc.mailchimpsites.com, or you can follow these direct links to Register for AMPC 2023 (https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/australasian-mathematical-psychology-conference-2023-registration-484039825147?aff=ebdssbdestsearch&keep_tld=1) and Submit Your Abstract (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeStxteQv7WX5wWjWYSG0TtAgaAp4WvdXAz9U61T0jA8vkETg/viewform).
