Little more about my fictional magical library setting Edar. I've put a lot of thought into the mechanics of how it all functions, cuz the library itself is infinite. In theory, each of the books contains its own universe, and are written in an arcane language known as Auldymnian. The alphabet/character set can be thought of as a set with similar properties to Hamiltonian numbers, and is infinite in length. Most books only make use of a finite subset of the entire alphabet.
Each book may be finite or infinite in length, but you can just open up the back cover to see if there is a last page to figure that out instantly. Each book defines an entire reality, a fantastical universe waiting to be explored. It is impossible to actually exist inside the Library itself in a first order sense, and anytime someone is in a "library" it is a simulacrum inside another book, which itself exists inside another book's "library." There is a cosmological argument that claims to prove the existence of the true Library, but I don't find this compelling.
