I ask a colleague and they tell me an example of a group.
I ask if the group is amenable or non-amenable.
"Amenable?" they ask, so I show a diagram explaining what is amenable and what is non-amenable.
Colleague laughs and says "it's a well-studied example with a lot of natural properties!"
...
It is an open problem whether or not the group is amenable.
