Wir testen (mal wieder) #MatrixOrg. Diesmal: ich kann der anderen Person schreiben, umgekehrt aber nur lesen möglich und keine Antwort.

Wir haben uns gegenseitig verifiziert.

There are way too much speculations and conspiracies regarding #meta 's new #threads . First of all, they can't do anything to the existing #fediverse . #xmpp is still alive even today amongst power users which unfortunately got overshadowed by #matrixorg . There is no need to be worried imo. They can't harm the open source.

Mein Leseverhalten ist ähnlich allerdings abonniere ich Nachrichten-Kanäle hauptsächlich in meine #mastodon Zeitleiste.
Zu spezifischen Fachthemen habe ich Räume in #matrixorg geschaffen in die #rssfeed per @feeds:integrations.ems.host laufen.

Es gibt drei Ebenen, auf denen Microsoft im Bildungswesen eingesetzt wird. Ich versuche einmal auf jeder Ebene selbst für Lehrer einfach zu lernende Alternativen:
0. Betriebssystem: #Ubuntu (#edubuntu)
1. Apps: #onlyoffice , #gimp
2. Collaborieren: #collaboraonline , #bigbluebutton , #owncloud
3. Kommunizieren: #matrixorg , #signalmessenger

Damit müssten eigentlich alle Grundanforderungen erfüllt sein.

Huh....I thought Discord's old username strategy was pretty clever (in a global environment where computers mainly use Latin characters):

Building a server that hosts multiple bridges but all of them on their own synapse for name-spacing reasons.

#matrixorg is definitely the one that flies under the radar. I've almost never seen anyone there promote it in any way.

It's not actually as easy to use as the others, because you have to set up asymmetric cryptographic keys.

You also have to learn how to connect to other servers and it isn't as user friendly as here.

Its selling point is #security. A lot of businesses use it.

@mase @holm das gleiche bei mir. Jabber war schon gefühlt vor 10 Jahren tot und dennoch den ejabberd immer mitgenommen .. aber seit #matrixorg gibt es wirklich keinen Grund mehr.(ok, Äpfel / Birnen .. aber so genau nimmt das eh nicht mehr)

@unixtippse hmm, that’s sad. I like #matrixorg really much, but for a family chat, a bit oversized, even on a #docker host.

@spudly Slack has alternatives in #rocketchat, #matrixorg, and #mattermost . I haven't found anything for Discourse. I tried looking for something when I made a family D&D group.

I don't know of any, but building one with ansible and a cloud hosting provider shouldn't be to hard. I am a #matrix user myself
