While I'm feeling nostalgic regarding past music projects - back in the early 2010s I was invited to contribute a track for a benefit compilation for anarchist comrade Jeremy Hammond, who at the time was serving a lengthy prison sentence for his involvement in the Anonymous affiliated hacking collective LulzSec..this was due to the self-appointed 'leader' of LulzSec, Sabu, actually being an FBI informant!
Anyways, I was going through one of those periods where I didn't think any of my tracks were good enough to be released, however, I did really like a remix that France-based experimental speedcore producer Mental D-struction had done for me of the Matt Bleak track "Broken Economics", and I thought it would fit the compilation really well so I promptly submitted it.
As is often the case with benefit compilations - or was back then? - I'm still not sure, it was hard to get a copy of the actual CD - the solidarity campaign was running on a shoestring apparently and couldn't afford to give contributors copies - so I purchased a copy to give to Evie (Mental D-struction) which took forever to arrive and then I ended up losing it as I became homeless not long afterwards!
I'm not sure how many copies were made, but it's a hard one to find - it was a 3xCD thing, 2 discs of music and one of artwork by one of Jeremy's imprisoned comrades. Genre-wise it was a bit of a mixed bag - Hip Hop, Folk, Punk etc.
Anyway, am still searching for a copy or copies as it is the only professionally pressed CD I've ever been on - even if it was just in remixed form...
