Maurice Levitas died on 14 February 2001. He was born at Warren Street, in the Portobello area of Dublin. His parents, Harry Levitas and Leah Rick, having emigrated to Ireland from Lithuania and Latvia in 1912. He joined the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1933 and was also an active trade unionist. 1/2
