Fun facts… #Mayflies/#Fishflies/#Dayflies hatch in enormous swarms on the upper #MississippiRiver every year. So many they appear on weather #radar! They live most of their lives underwater as larvae, then molt into the reproductive adults that often live for just a day or two. They don't/can't even eat! Harmless other than the mess. Big time food source for #birds, etc. #Wisconsin #Insects

Just watched #Mayflies, a #drama #MiniSeries from the #BBC. Very touching and beautifully acted. Made me genuinely cry at certain parts.

Does deal with sensitive subject matter, so may not be for everyone.

Watched 'Mayflies' last night, the TV adaptation of Andrew O'Hagan's novel about two old school friends, now in middle-age, dealing with a terminal illness. Having read the #book, I should have known the effect the screen version would have on me and, my word, there were gut-wrenching sobs coming from my side of the sofa! The OH was a little more stoic, if glassy-eyed. Terrific performances from all concerned.

Did any of you watch #Mayflies yet? If not then prepare yourself for the most beautifully portrayed and sensitively told story about a man's choice of a dignified death. Utterly heartbreaking but thought provoking look at personal choice in the face of a terminal illness. Not the most comfortable of subject matter. The sensitivity of the story was perfectly handled by Martin Compston, Ashley Jensen and Tony Curran as well as the rest of the stellar actors involved in the whole story 🙏❤️

#Mayflies on BBC. Is not to be watched lightly. It is about assisted dying, and it very hard to watch.

Done really well, and I think it needs to be discussed. But also - it is so hard.
