My wife is currently winding her way through the medical system in Manitoba. From lost faxes (yes, FAXES), to the inability to see specialists, I believe that our system is in free fall. The only thing holding it together are individual medical providers who are doing their best with the duct tape and baling wire.

I hope the next government makes meaningful change. Not just photo ops and baloney stats. Real change. Even if we have to make serious investments.

I truly believe that Manitoba needs to throw the PCs out of power in October. And this probably means that the NDP has to win the election. Which means I will probably vote for them. But OMG, reducing gas taxes to pander to the electorate? Counterproductive and nonsensical.

One of many reasons I have come to view religion as toxic. 98% of the time, the people whining about these books are complaining because of their “religious beliefs”.

Yes, sexuality is complex and messy. Guess what - teens deserve to have access to frank material that addresses things directly - because the people making the fuss probably aren’t addressing it with their teens.

This op-ed from Dr. Dan Robert, acting head of neurology at HSC is incredible. He refers to the sleep study deal with Cerebra as a "fiasco" and his final comment is "It’s clear the privatization agenda is paramount, regardless of the cost or the long-term health consequences."

I sure hope that Manitobans are paying attention. Thanks to Dr. Roberts for speaking up, and thanks to @winnipegfreepress for publishing.

The base wants it, the head honchos don't, and that's been the history of the Manitoba NDP going back half a century.
