Regisseur Martin #McDonagh spinnt gemeinsam mit den Stars seines Kult-Hits „Brügge sehen... und sterben?“ eine rabenschwarze, bisweilen ziemlich makabre Tragikomödie.
Sehr zu empfehlen in OmU am Mi 15.03. 19 Uhr / Fr 17.03. 18 Uhr und Sa 18.03. 20.30 Uhr! Aber auch in deutscher Fassung am Do 16.03. 20.30 Uhr und So 19.03. 19 Uhr.

I really wanted to like this movie, but it wouldn’t let me.

I thought I was prepared; enjoyed “In Bruge” and loved “Seven Psychopaths”. Haven’t watched McDonagh’s other work. Saw a lot of interviews with Director & Principals leading up to this.

The cinematography is stunning. Cast, performances, and production are excellent. Editing is skillful, but too much Fellini-esque imagery for me. Music is a bit heavy-handed. The writing is relentlessly bleak. Moments of warmth and (dark) humour are rare. The tiny character arc payoff from watching the whole story was not worth the effort. I had to stop and resume watching over three days because it just made me angry.

My life experiences and tastes just do not resonate with what this movie delivers. I suspect that they did so much promotional work because they knew it was challenging for some people.
