Oh #LazyWeb and #LazyPachyderm! (/me makes obeisance)

Back in the day, we used three (3) axes for #cybersecurity authentication:

1. What you 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 (such as a passphrase, &𝘤.);
2. What you 𝘩𝘢𝘥 (such as a token or physical key, &𝘤.); and
3. What you 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 (such as fingerprint, retinal scan, &𝘤.).

Is this still basically the case? Are any of these now considered (like #CRC or #MD5 checksum hashing for object verification) inadequate or passé? And/or have new modalities been added?

No #wonder #datausage is an #issue , if elements keep redownloading.

(It'd be best if #webbrowser s could compare the online image with the cached one ( #md5 ?) and only redownload if it is different..)

...weiterhin befinde ich mich in den #Freebsd Wochen, heute beim herumstöbern in den #ports bin ich in #sysutils gelandet und habe ein feines tool von von Adrián López entdeckt.  #fdupes  ! Auch für #Linux ;-)

fdupes findet Datei Duplikate die NICHT den gleichen Namen haben aber den selben Inhalt.

Es vergleicht Dateien nach Größe

Bildet über die Dateien eine #MD5 Checksumme und vergleicht diese

Anschließend erfolgt ein byte-to-byte Vergleich

@Perl Good news, the #Perl module IO::Socket::SSL now defaults to using the #TLS cryptographic protocol version 1.2 or greater. (Earlier versions have been widely deprecated for a couple of years due to weaknesses found in the #MD5 and #SHA1 hashing functions.)

Note that if you’ve updated #OpenSSL recently you may also have to rebuild and reinstall Net::SSLeay from #CPAN.
