I’d love to read the email chain inside #Apple where they came to the conclusion that implementing management of Remote Desktop in #macOS should be done via a #MDM management command with no other MDM control of permissions and settings. So I have to continue my Rube Goldberg machine of scripts and API calls to get #Jamf to do the right thing.

I’m always intrigued by how Universities are responding to #CyberEssentials with #cots for Mobile Device Mansgement (#MDM) that target #macos and #Windows. #linux seams to be never supported, or one is told ‘#WindowsSubsystemLinux is suitable, or _just_ use a virtual machine’.

Yet I never seem to see discussions/information with how MDM System will impact on #researcher productivity, especially in the #sciences where #programming & #experimentation & #development is prudent.

@gray That is exciting. I’m not in a decision making position currently, but I definitely nudge those who are. One higher up agrees with me about #Kandji, so we’ve gone back and forth about possible implementation strategies.

I’m with you on referencing #Kandji documentation on new info. It’s fun to read up on how they approach changes in the #MDM field.

Intune still doesn’t provide a sensible way to disable logins of domain accounts with cached credentials on rogue machines.

If a user steals a laptop you have to choose between remote-wiping the data or trying to write a custom script to workaround (like recursively removing NTFS permissions… or a task schedule to automatically logout if username = xyz)

A proper MDM solution should allow you to trivially disable a machine without wiping the encrypted data.
