Yesterday, I missed an entire day of work and drove 6 hours round trip to a specialist’s office. When I got there I was told that 1) an idiot in the admin office forgot to order my medication; 2) no one thought to call me to tell me not to come. In the last 20 years, every major procedure I’ve had has had screw-ups like this. Grrrrr

Well, unless something wonderful happens in the next several hours, my insurance company is looking like they are going to drag out or outright deny my mental health medication. Again. I'm already days late for my shot and I can feel it. At least my doctor's office is really going to bat for me. Yay Beacon Medical! My new sleep medication (insomnia, sleep apnea, chronic fatigue) is “pending” being filled since the 20th. And that was after my fighting for a month to get my last meds fully refilled after my insurance company decided I only needed 15 pills for a 25 pill script for one pill a night. Which made no sense to anyone. And I was not allowed to buy the other 10 pills despite having a script for them. #MedicalInsurance

So I’ve been without sufficient sleep for a couple of weeks now. Life is not good

If anyone has any advice about obtaining health insurance as an independent contractor, please let me know.

#Insurance is based on modelling #risk and the likelihood that some event is going to occur during, say your travels or occupancy of your home. How does this work with #MedicalInsurance? The chances of you getting ill and dying are 100% and so unless you want to charge exorbitant premiums for those who are already likely to be afflicted (the elderly, the very young, and sufferers of chronic illness) it doesn’t work. And if you do charge extra them extra then you’re a heartless bastard.
