As the days go by the future of Twitter seems more and more uncertain. It seems sensible therefore to build a strong global network of sociologists via Mastodon. I think we’ve made a good start!

Being a very involved grandparent promotes the well-being among grandfathers but not among grandmothers where daily caretaking of grandchildren leads to a reduction in wellbeing. This is an interesting finding from a new study by Leimer & van Ewikj utilising data from SHARE.

The study finds that grandchildren overall contributes to a slightly lower quality of life contradictory to the idea that grandparenthood is joyous and a positive life event - the authors interpret this a evidence of role strain. @sociology @publichealth sciencedirect.com/science/arti?

My : I am a medical sociologist at William and Mary, whose research focuses on the intersection of racialization, immigration, and health. My work includes some historical demography (to study early immigrants in the early 1900s), some machine learning (to study MENA Americans when they don't have a box to check), and some cross-national comparison (mostly in Europe).
